The legendary Toyota Land Cruiser 70 series will make a significant return in 2025, leading to an updated version in the Middle East.
The LC70 is renowned for its exceptional longevity, off-road capabilities, and rugged simplicity, making it a favorite among adventurers, desert explorers, and hardcore off-road enthusiasts.

Before its Middle East debut, here’s everything you need to know about the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 70 series.
Design and Exterior
The 2025 LC70 keeps its boxy, utilitarian look but gets subtle styling updates.
The front end features a revised grille with a more modern Toyota emblem, sleeker LED headlights replacing the old halogen units, and a slightly redesigned bumper.

The body options include 3-door (SWB), 5-door (LWB), and pickup (79 Series) variants, complemented by new alloy wheel designs and optional all-terrain tires for enhanced desert performance, while classic heritage touches like round fenders, an upright windshield, and a side-mounted rear spare tire feature on select trims.
But the verdict is that it remains a rugged workhorse, now enhanced with a slightly more contemporary face.
Interior – Basic but More Comfortable
The LC70 is always in Spartan, but the 2025 model receives the urgently needed improvements.
The interior sees a major upgrade with a newly designed dashboard featuring a touchscreen infotainment system that finally supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while materials remain mostly hard plastics, complemented by better seat cushioning and optional leather upholstery.

The air conditioning system has been enhanced for improved cooling essential for the Middle Eastern climate and safety has been significantly boosted with the addition of airbags, ABS, and stability control, features that were previously absent in some markets.
Verdict: It’s still not a luxury SUV, but it’s now far more comfortable and practical for daily driving.
Engine & Performance
The 2025 LC70 retains its bulletproof diesel engine but now meets stricter emissions standards.
Vehicle options for the Middle East are of two variants:
- 4.0L LAND CRUISER 70 HARD TOP 3DOOR 2025 VXR
- 4.0L LAND CRUISER 70 HARD TOP 5DOOR 2025 VXR
Both having a 6-speed automatic gear box and 6-cylinder engines producing 360Nm torque and 228hp horsepower. The difference even lies in the fuel tank capacity where 3 Door has a 90 L fuel tank and 5 Door with 130L.
Offroad Capability
The LC70 remains one of the most capable off-roaders ever made, with:
- Approach/Departure Angles: Excellent for rock crawling and dune bashing.
- Solid Axles: Unbreakable for extreme off-roading (unlike independent suspension in modern SUVs).
- Water Wading Depth: 700mm (perfect for wadis and flash floods).
- Aftermarket Support: Huge range of lift kits, bumpers, and off-road mods available in the Middle East.
Technology and Safety
While the LC70 has always been low-tech, the 2025 model adds:
- Infotainment: 8-inch touchscreen with navigation, Bluetooth, and smartphone mirroring.
- Safety: Now includes ABS, traction control, and dual airbags (finally meeting modern standards).
- Optional Extras: Rearview camera, parking sensors, and cruise control.
Verdict: It’s still not a tech-loaded SUV, but it has become more suitable for daily driving.
Expected Market Price
Price starts from AED 172,500 – AED 185,200 for both 3 door and 5 door trims.
