Toyota Motor Corporation has launched in Japan the all-new Crown Estate, completing its four-model family of the premium Crown series. Success with Crossover, Sport, and Sedan variants preceeds, as the Estate delivers a balanced mix of dynamism and practicability through the introduction of what Toyota has called a “Mature Active Cabin.” Hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain are the available latest model engines, supporting Toyota’s goal of carbon neutrality.

Design: A Union of Beauty and Functionality

The Crown Estate presents an innovative design that combines the features of a wagon and an SUV. Based on the GA-K platform, the car features a sleek silhouette with bold shoulder lines, a front grille integrated into the bumper, and 21-inch aluminum rims, with which it achieves a commanding stance. The complex mesh structure of the grille adds to the car’s sophisticated demeanor.

Within, Toyota utilizes its hallmark “island architecture,” clustering main controls for intuitive and ergonomic positioning. Horizontal meter displays reduce driver eye travel, enhancing long-distance driving comfort. The interior can be ordered in three elegant color schemes: Black, Saddle Tan, and a PHEV-specific Grayish Blue.

Spacious and Flexible Cabin Space

Designed to meet the active lifestyles of its owners, the Crown Estate boasts a spacious 570 liters of luggage capacity with the rear seats in place and a huge 1,470 liters when folded. A new extension board mechanism for the luggage space makes for a flat, two-meter-long cargo area, a Toyota first. An integrated pull-out deck chair and table also add to outdoor useability, combining functionality with luxury seamlessly.

Superior Driving Comfort and Performance

Toyota has designed the Crown Estate to provide stress-free, elegant driving. The car is equipped with MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension to provide the best ride quality.

The combination of Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) and Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) provides precise handling together with improved ride comfort. The car has three different drive modes—Normal, Sport, and Rear Comfort Mode—to suit different driving styles.

The Crown Estate is available in two powertrain variations:

  • 2.5-Liter Hybrid (HEV): With an enhanced front motor that offers 50% higher output than its predecessors, this variant delivers seamless acceleration and power efficiency.
