Bentley has unveiled a breathtakingly original grand tourer, ‘The Black Rose’ Batur, a unique commission that defines the ultimate in bespoke craftsmanship.

This bespoke piece of art is one of only 18 Baturs being painstakingly hand-finished by Mulliner, Bentley’s bespoke division. Significantly, it is one of just three right-hand-drive versions, an extremely rare example of automotive artistry.

Stunning Exterior: The Black Rose Finish

Designed by Mulliner’s design team in an intensive co-creation process with the client, The Black Rose boasts a bespoke ‘Black Rose’ metallic paint colour created for this commission. Added emphasis to its rich, deep colour are a gloss Beluga upper body, finished with satin Rose Gold accents.

These luxurious accents enhance the front grille, ‘endless bonnet line’ brightware, mirror caps, lower body kit, and 22-inch tri-tone wheels, which cover carbon ceramic brakes with black calipers.

A Dark Elegance Cabin with Rose Gold Trim

Entering The Black Rose opens up a carefully designed interior in which the Beluga leather’s darkness, charcoal grey tweed cloth’s darkness, and Black Rose-painted veneers form an intriguing contrast. The pièce de résistance of the cabin is the addition of Bentley’s innovative 3D-printed rose gold, an industry first in luxury car craftsmanship.

A maximum of 210 grams of hallmarked 18-karat rose gold finishes important touchpoints, such as the Drive Mode Selector, Bentley’s Organ Stop vent controls, and a tasteful steering wheel insert marker. This organic blend of advanced additive manufacturing and age-old craftsmanship highlights the absolute exclusivity of this personalized Batur.

Leading the Way with 3D-Printed Gold

Bentley’s collaboration with renowned goldsmiths Cooksongold has led to an automotive first: three-dimensional printed solid rose gold elements, sustainably sourced from 100% recycled jewellery. Each piece is hallmarked in Birmingham’s prestigious Jewellery Quarter, ensuring authenticity. Select components manufactured in 2022 also feature the Jubilee hallmark, commemorating the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

This groundbreaking method is included in Bentley’s £3 million commitment to develop additive manufacturing (AM) capacity at Crewe factory. Translating CAD models to accurate physical parts, the technology offers improved one-off customisation and sustainability.

The Art of Commissioning: Mulliner’s Legacy

Mulliner’s coachbuilding heritage stretches back to the Roaring Twenties, building individual bodies for the world’s most legendary Bentleys. Now, it reimagines luxury in the form of personalisation, providing customers with a unique face-to-face interaction to co-create their dream car.

The Batur, produced in only 18 units, is a new direction in design for Bentley. After its success, the Batur Convertible was launched in May 2024 as the third member of Mulliner’s Coachbuilt family. With only 16 units to be produced, this ultra-rare model is the most powerful W12-powered drop-top Grand Tourer in Bentley history.

Looking Ahead

The Black Rose Batur embodies Bentley’s dedication to sustainable luxury, cutting-edge manufacturing, and bespoke personalisation. From 3D-printed rose gold to painstakingly hand-crafted interiors, this remarkable grand tourer is a reflection of the infinite potential within Bentley’s Mulliner division. As an authentic collector’s item, The Black Rose is a shining example of opulence, refinement, and exclusivity in contemporary automotive craftsmanship.
